What’s Up With Putty Makeup??

Hello everyone,

I am so sorry for not posting! It has been a crazy past couple of weeks, I’ve been sick for about three weeks, and my sister broke her leg and I have also been working on something super special that I will announce in a few days, but today I wanted to talk about this odd makeup trend that I’ve been seeing a lot of.

I know slime was a huge deal, everyone of all  ages made slime and it was probably the weirdest trend because of how obsessive everyone was over it. I personally wasn’t a fan, but I know my younger sister loved it and still does.

I don’t know if this trend was seen by makeup companies and  they decided to make putty makeup to try to appeal to a younger crowd or what but I decided I wanted to rant about this.

A few weeks ago, I saw Jeffree Star do a video on putty makeup and then I saw Tati on YouTube do a video on it as well, Jeffree Star mostly stayed on one product by Stila and talked about the Heaven’s Hue Highlighter which is a little gummy, I haven’t gotten the chance to go to Sephora to feel it for myself but from what I can see on the internet and through videos, it does look like a stunning highlighter. Personally, I am very fascinated with the fact that Stila as well as some other brands are stranding away from the traditional highlighting formula and they’re going for a more gummy consistency, I feel like as long as the product does what it’s supposed to, then it’s fine.

Next, I saw Tati’s video and she talked about two products from Elf cosmetics, which is their blush and bronzer duo, which often enough is considered a dupe for the Nars duo, and one of Elf’s newest launches, Ultra Pigment Cushion Eyeshadow Palette which retails for $12 and comes in two color options, Island Breeze which is more of a warm tone palette, including gold, browns and some burgundy colors. The other option is Cool Mist, which includes more blue and copper colors. I got the chance to swatch Cool Mist and to me it felt like a satin palette, definitely not gummy at all. But, when Tati posted her video, she was able to stick her fingerprint in there and it molded the pigments!

Like I said earlier in this entry, I don’t really care if the product is gummy or any other texture, as long as it’s a good product and does it’s job correctly than that’s all that matters. As someone who loves makeup and always wants to try something new, I say that this would be fun to try out because it isn’t your ordinary product and that’s something that makes these products so much more different. I wouldn’t be surprised if more companies will start taking part in this putty trend.

I am sorry for not posting, I am definitely getting back into the trend of things again!

Why blending makeup is important!

Hi everyone,

Today I was struggling with a topic to write about then I remembered this incident. This incident occurred yesterday at school. Beforehand I did my nice matte makeup and felt so beautiful and felt so confident then my boyfriend pointed out that I didn’t blend it all in on the side of my face.

It wasn’t wet, but my skin tones were very uneven yesterday. I decided this was a good topic because I wanted to be somewhat educational for you guys, instead of doing the normal product reviews and tutorials. Of course I find this incident super funny because I probably have been doing this ever since I started makeup I just never noticed it! But shout out to my boyfriend (who does read these posts) for letting me know!

But to the point: Before you leave your house for work or school or your other daily activities, always make sure to fully blend everything in all the way, and make sure to put makeup on all of your face or else you will look like I did yesterday XD.

I am sorry for this post to be so short, but I hope you guys liked this story time.

My Favorite Makeup Products!

Hi everyone,

Welcome to today’s post. Happy May! I hope this month goes well for all of us! This is my final month of school meaning I will have the whole summer to blog away for you guys! Today I was at a loss for ideas so I decided to just show you my favorite makeup items at the moment and a short description as to why I like them.

Face:

NYX Photogenic HD Foundation

I really like this foundation because it feels light on my face and blends so smooth. My other liquid foundation blends chunky and is very obvious I have a ton of makeup on where this is so lightweight. However, this foundation gives me low-no coverage so keep that in mind.

E.L.F. Perfect Blend Concealer

This concealer covers so much and is only $2.00! This concealer fits my tone and it smells so good, like apricots. I ran out of it recently and have to stock up, it’s the best concealer I have had.

Eyes:

E.L.F. Eyeshadow Lock Primer

This dries quickly and keeps my shadow locked in place and doesn’t crease no matter how long my shadow is on.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette

I waited so long to get this palette and I am so obsessed with how it looks. I have made countless looks with this palette and it is my favorite eyeshadow palette. I love that this palette has matching colors so if you’re in a rush you don’t have to figure out a whole new look.

Lips:

Estee Lauder Lipstick ‘Candy Shimmer’

I love that this color isn’t crazy dark and it can blend in to my natural lip color, I also like that this lipstick has some shimmer, it’s truly a pretty lip color.

Benefit Benetint Lip Stain

I like to wear this as an individual lipstick instead of using it over a lipstick to keep it on all day, some days when I don’t want to put lipstick on and have it smear on straws and cups, I will put this on to give a nice tint to my lip color and it makes them a little rosy.

Highlight and Contour:

E.L.F. Baked Highlighter ‘Moonlight Pearls’

This highlighter is such a pretty color and gives you a super natural glow. I love to put this on my cheeks, nose, cupid’s bow as well as on my brow bone using a small eyeshadow brush. I love that this highlighter is buildable depending on how much of a glow you want.

E.L.F. Baked Bronzer ‘Bora Bora’

I love that this is a mix of different bronzing colors and I love this gives a nice bronze to my forehead and cheeks. It doesn’t work super well as a contour but I use it to give me a nice natural bronze.

Ingrown Toenail Hacks That Work and Don’t Work

Hello everyone,

I know this is kind of an odd page because I usually write about beauty and fashion, But this is a fashion and lifestyle blog and I feel like I do need to cover this because a lot of people (myself included) struggle with Ingrown toenails.

For those of you who don’t know, an ingrown toenail is where the toenail grows into the skin, it’s a normal problem that a lot of people get by either wearing shoes that are too small, too tight of socks or cut their toenails incorrectly.

I get ingrown toenails only on my right big toe, and I’ve had some that are mild and some that are super painful. So I decided to share some tricks I have figured out myself as well as found on the internet. So here we go…

1.) Soak the foot/feet in warm water

This one might sound obvious, but it does help extremely. Make sure the water isn’t scolding, but make sure that the water is warm, this will soften the skin around the toe which will make it easier to push the skin back to cut the nail out. It also helps to put epsom salt in the bath with it.

You can buy epsom salt literally everywhere, even at the Dollar Store.

2.) The Cotton Trick

Because of my ingrown toenails getting severe, I personally have tried the trick and it is too painful for my liking. This is what you would do after you cut the nail out. You take a cotton ball and you rip it into somewhat smaller pieces, then you would put this behind the toenail that is still left, this would help the nail grow correctly.

3.) Tooth Pick/Floss

This is a helpful hack. Get either a toothpick or a flosser, but make sure the floss is the kind that is on a stick, and use the very tip of the floss or the tooth pick and gently stick it down the side of the toe that you had the ingrown toenail. This trick doesn’t do anything painful but it lets you know if you have nail far deep into the skin. (If this is the case, make sure to see your doctor or go to Urgent Care so you can get it professionally cut out.)

4.) Tea Tree Oil/Coconut Oil

After you cut the nail out, what I like to do and what helps the most for me is to put either Tea Tree Oil or Coconut Oil on the open part of the skin that the nail came out of. These oils help disinfect if you were to have an infection and it also takes the pain away.

So those are the 4 hacks that I have for you guys, I hope this post was helpful. If you do have an ingrown toenail and if it is inflamed, puffy or puss is coming out, make sure to go right away to a doctor or Urgent Care so you can get it professionally cut out, those are the signs that you might have an infection in your toe. My sister had an infection one time and went to the doctor and they sprayed cold spray to numb it and they just cut it out with like a pair of nail clippers, so it isn’t super bad.

DIY Eyeshadow using Crayons!

Hello everyone!

Welcome to today’s blog post, I’m going to try to post a new blog two times a week so then I can try to get more readers and followers.

Today I decided to teach you guys how to make eyeshadow using three things; coconut oil, crayons and a microwave. You also need a spoon and a bowl and a container to put the finished product in.

If you don’t have a microwave you can light a candle and hold the bowl of product above the candle, that way the product can melt.

You will need a box of crayons (preferably non toxic) that way the product won’t hurt you as bad if it gets in your eye, nose or mouth. I recommend RoseArt or Crayola or another big name art brand. This is a good time not to trust small-name brands. Next you will need coconut oil or vegetable oil. I used coconut oil for mine and it seemed to work out.

  1. First you will need to pick out a color from the crayon box. I’ve heard that if you have metallic crayons those show up way more pigmented than a regular crayon.
  2. You will need to unwrap the crayon. I cut the crayon into small parts and was able to get the wrapper off easier that way, but it still took a good 5 minutes.
  3. Next you will take a spoon and scoop as much coconut oil in the bowl depending on how much crayons are in the bowl.
  4. Next you will put the bowl of product into the microwave for about 3 minutes on the high power.
  5. Once the three minutes is over, the bowl will be somewhat hot so if you can’t tolerate heat, have someone help you with this step.
  6. Once the product is out, take the spoon and stir the additional chunks together that way the entire product is liquid.
  7. Next find a container that you’ll be storing this product in.
  8. Pour the product into the container and seal that container.
  9. Put the container into the fridge and let it cool for about a half hour.

Note that once the product is out of the fridge, you might have to warm it up a little bit to let it get a little creamy for you to use. mine was in the fridge for about 20 minutes and I used it and it had very little color. So I put it in the microwave for 7 seconds on high powder and it got a little more product on my finger. It shouldn’t turn to liquid however.

Now you have your own eyeshadow! I hope you guys liked this tutorial, make sure to share your pictures with us on Instagram @complicatedfashionblog !

Thank you guys so much!

Real Deal VS. Store Brand

Hey guys!

I got this idea earlier this morning when I was in the bathroom when I saw I have real brand products but also I have the store brand version of the product. I decided to write about each of these products and ultimately pick between the two which is the better buy. I hope this gets fun and helps you guys with your next shopping trip! Now, let’s get started!

  1. Head and Shoulders VS. Kroger (Ralph’s) Dandruff Shampoo

I use the head and shoulders because I do get dandruff, and since I do have darker hair it shows up easier. I always use the actual Head and Shoulders brand, but one day when I went to the supermarket, the brand was too expensive. So I gave the Ralph’s brand (Kroger) a try since it was a lot cheaper. The bottles were almost the same. The first time I used this shampoo, it made my hair feel and look greasy and oily the next day. Though I rinsed and rinsed it out, the shampoo stuck to my hair! I eventually got it to rinse out but I am not super patient when it comes to shampoos. If you are patient, it might work for you, but since I am not one of those people, it doesn’t work for me.

The Better Buy: Head and Shoulders- pay the extra money to get a shampoo that works better.

2. Up and Up (Target) Women’s Razors VS. Venus Razors

I love love love my Venus razor, it leaves my skin so soft and it rarely pulls my leg hair and skin when I shave. However, my armpits is a different story. I was going out of town for a few weeks and I wanted to buy new razors to take with me, so I decided on the Target brand’s version of the Venus razors. These razors are purple and white, and they are pretty cool looking and they work. The only problem I had was that it pulled my armpit skin, but that seems to happen with any razor I use.

The Better Buy: Up and Up- save the few extra dollars for a razor that works the same.

3. Yes To Makeup Remover Wipes VS. Kirkland (Costco) Makeup Remover Wipes

I got the Yes To wipes as a gift for the holidays, and they work very well, I used them to take off my mascara, eyeshadow and my face makeup and it worked well. They’re just expensive when you need to get more of them. My grandma who wears a lot of makeup recommended I try the Costco brand because they supposedly work a lot better than name brand wipes. Plus, you get a box full of them. there’s about 30 wipes in a package and there’s a ton of packages in one box. They do work very well, They don’t smear any of the makeup, it just comes right off.

The Better Buy: Kirkland- hands down

4. Proactive VS. Up and Up Benzoyl Peroxide Cream

Proactive of course is a big brand when it comes to skin care, but did you know that Target sells their own brand of cream similar to Proactive? This cream has 8 more percent of Benzoyl Peroxide where Proactive only has 2 percent! The good thing about using the Proactive is it moisturizes your face where the Up and Up dries your face a bit. I like to use Up and Up first and then put Proactive on over it so it blends in but it also keeps my face soft and moisturized.

The Best Buy: Up and Up- in terms of working better and is also a lot cheaper.

Ugly Christmas sweaters can be cute?

Hey guys!

I hope you all had a wonderful Friday yesterday. Today I am going to talk about something that is now in season; Ugly Christmas Sweaters.

Ugly Christmas Sweaters are usually worn at family Christmas parties, or in embarrassing Christmas card photos. It can also be worn as a part of street fashion?

Celebrities including Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Demi Lovato and so much more have been spotted walking the streets and red carpets in them!?

I personally have found some acutal cute Christmas sweaters that aren’t ugly at all, and I would wear it in public. Forever 21 sells pajama sweaters that have a Christmassy twist to them.

I feel like all Christmas sweaters are actually really cute. I haven’t worn one before but hopefully this year I will be able to! I don’t really have a lot to say, but sometimes I can be style driven which means I want to be in the latest trends and I don’t really care about comfort, but at the same time I am comfort driven which means I want to be comfortable and at the same time I want to look stylish.

If you are interested in getting an ‘ugly’ Christmas/holiday sweater, make sure to check out all the clothing stores you may shop at and find one you are interested in, and also look for one that is in your budget. I personally love over-sized sweaters so I would get one a size bigger for myself so I can be more comfortable.

Below are some websites you can check out to find some holiday sweaters:

Forever 21

Macy’s

JcPenney

“No Makeup” Makeup Look

Hey guys!

It’s the fall time officially!

If you haven’t read my last post and if you would like to, just scroll down or go back to the blog’s homepage to check it out. Today I wanted to give you guys a simple makeup look that is perfect for school, work, parties, anywhere you want. It’s supposed to look like you have no makeup on, just keep that in mind.

The things you’ll need:

  • Concealer
  • Nude eyeshadow
  • Eyelid primer (optional)
  • Nude lipstick/stain/crayon
  • Gel Primer (should be clear)
  • Mascara

Procedures:

  1. If you wear any kind of acne creme (Proactive, X-Out, Benzoyl Peroxide, etc.) apply that, if you don’t wear this, then skip this.
  2. If you have gel primer, it should be a clear gel, just apply that all over your face so the makeup doesn’t get in your pores.
  3. Once your primer is on, apply some concealer on your trouble spots, your under-eyes, and wherever else you feel like you need it. Remember not too much!
  4. Once your face is done, find an eyeshadow pallet that has nude colors, and find a tone that is as close to yours as possible and apply that on your eye lids.
  5. Then apply only a few coats of mascara so it doesn’t look like you have anything on.
  6. To finish this look off, you’ll need a lip product that is as close to your natural lip color as possible and just apply it to your lips.
  7. Make sure there are no unblended concealer spots on your face, and once you’ve done that, you’re done!

You should look like you aren’t wearing any makeup! I hope you enjoy this simple tutorial, it was very fun to write. If you have any recommendations, make sure to comment them or comment on our posts on our instagram: @thecomplicatedfashionblog!

Review on Torn Leggings!

Hello my wonderful readers,

It’s almost Halloween time and I am super excited, make sure to check out my Halloween inspired posts and more last minute costumes will be coming soon so stay tuned! Now, getting to my actual post.

Today I went on a small but fun shopping trip to a store called Fashion Q. It’s in a ton of malls but under different names such as Qrew, Q and Fashion Q, sometimes Q-Plus if it’s a Fashion Q Plus Size store. While I was there, they had a table with some leggings that had tears to look like the jeans with the tears. At first I had mixed feelings about these leggings and here’s why:

  1. Leggings are supposed to keep you warm. People who maybe don’t wear jeans (including me) and these may be the only kind of pants that they wear. Or maybe people wear leggings to protect their skin from the sun.
  2. If it was cold outside and someone wore these leggings for some reason, these wouldn’t keep you warm because the amount of slits in the front of the pant legs.

I don’t have an actual picture of these pants, but they were black leggings, you know normal, but on the front side there was a ton of slits going from mid-thigh all the way to the end of the legs. I of course ended up buying them with this one black lace up tank top. These leggings were surprisingly comfortable!

Of course there was some problems getting my feet through because they came out in the slits. I’ve seen torn leggings at stores but they were active leggings and I’ve judged them because I didn’t really think they would be so comfortable. Now, the reason why I brought up Halloween in the beginning was because these leggings looked like zombie pants!

This was just a short post about these leggings I am super obsessed with, if you guys happen to find any leggings like what I’ve described, I recommend you order them because you guys will love them! When I wore them when I tried them on with the shirt I bought, I felt like I belonged on stage at a rock concert.

Thank you guys for reading my blog, I really appreciate all the responses this blog has gotten and the amount of readers also.

Until next week,

The Complicated Fashion
