Children’s Highlighting Powder from Justice containing toxic metals? WTF!

Hi everyone,

Welcome back to my blog, I just decided to write my thoughts about a topic in the news right now, girls clothing store Justice, is currently under fire because of their highlighting powder formula containing asbestos! For those of you who don’t know, asbestos is mostly found in soils and rocks, but they can cause lung diseases as well as tumors and and other types of cancers.

I’ve read somewhere that this formula also contained toxic metals. I don’t know how true those articles are, but right now Justice is yanking all of the makeup items off of their shelves to properly be tested and cleared of any harmful ingredients!

I feel like I should post this because if there’s any aspiring beauty gurus who wanted to film a ‘full face of kids’ makeup video, just steer away from Justice, you can try Toys R Us, Amazon or Claire’s. I personally am super shocked to hear this news because when I was young, I used to shop at Justice. But, at the time they didn’t sell makeup, they sold clothes and maybe lotion.

What do you all think of this shocking headline? Tell me in the comments!

What’s Up With Putty Makeup??

Hello everyone,

I am so sorry for not posting! It has been a crazy past couple of weeks, I’ve been sick for about three weeks, and my sister broke her leg and I have also been working on something super special that I will announce in a few days, but today I wanted to talk about this odd makeup trend that I’ve been seeing a lot of.

I know slime was a huge deal, everyone of all  ages made slime and it was probably the weirdest trend because of how obsessive everyone was over it. I personally wasn’t a fan, but I know my younger sister loved it and still does.

I don’t know if this trend was seen by makeup companies and  they decided to make putty makeup to try to appeal to a younger crowd or what but I decided I wanted to rant about this.

A few weeks ago, I saw Jeffree Star do a video on putty makeup and then I saw Tati on YouTube do a video on it as well, Jeffree Star mostly stayed on one product by Stila and talked about the Heaven’s Hue Highlighter which is a little gummy, I haven’t gotten the chance to go to Sephora to feel it for myself but from what I can see on the internet and through videos, it does look like a stunning highlighter. Personally, I am very fascinated with the fact that Stila as well as some other brands are stranding away from the traditional highlighting formula and they’re going for a more gummy consistency, I feel like as long as the product does what it’s supposed to, then it’s fine.

Next, I saw Tati’s video and she talked about two products from Elf cosmetics, which is their blush and bronzer duo, which often enough is considered a dupe for the Nars duo, and one of Elf’s newest launches, Ultra Pigment Cushion Eyeshadow Palette which retails for $12 and comes in two color options, Island Breeze which is more of a warm tone palette, including gold, browns and some burgundy colors. The other option is Cool Mist, which includes more blue and copper colors. I got the chance to swatch Cool Mist and to me it felt like a satin palette, definitely not gummy at all. But, when Tati posted her video, she was able to stick her fingerprint in there and it molded the pigments!

Like I said earlier in this entry, I don’t really care if the product is gummy or any other texture, as long as it’s a good product and does it’s job correctly than that’s all that matters. As someone who loves makeup and always wants to try something new, I say that this would be fun to try out because it isn’t your ordinary product and that’s something that makes these products so much more different. I wouldn’t be surprised if more companies will start taking part in this putty trend.

I am sorry for not posting, I am definitely getting back into the trend of things again!

Prom Makeup Tutorial!

Hi everyone,

Welcome back to my blog. I’m sorry for not posting last week, I was busy and at a loss of post ideas. I do know prom season is finally here and in my area, most schools have already had their prom, but if you live in a different area or state or country and you still don’t know what to do for prom, then keep reading for simple makeup you can do at home!

Look #1: The Eyes that match the dress

This look mostly revolves around the eyes, you can do what ever else you want for this look. This is more of a last minute kind of eye look if you don’t really know what to do. If your dress is blue you can do an ombre blue eye look. This look is totally up to you and how you want to approach this eye look.

Look #2: The Photogenic Look

I recommend you use photogenic foundation, my favorite is from NYX but it is $17, if you can’t find or afford photogenic makeup, just try to find foundation that doesn’t have any SPF in it, because during your prom pictures you’ll get flash back and you don’t want that. I also recommend you avoid baking your face and avoid powder because that also causes flash back. However, if you want a glowy kind of look, use any kind of highlighter and apply a small amount on to your cheek bones, and also add some highlight to your arms so they look shiny (but not oily). Next, you just contour your cheeks like always using what ever bronzer/contour you want and if you want to, contour your arms so in your pictures they’ll look more muscular.

Look #3: The Nude Eyes

The final look for this entry- the safe look which is the nudes. Follow the same steps as Look #2 for the face, but for your eyelids, just apply some nude colors from your favorite nude palette, the shadows can be shimmery or matte, apply a nice thick wing to your eyeshadow, if you want to do something on your lower-lashline, I recommend you only use black eyeliner and do not use eyeshadow on the lower-lashline because in your pictures it can give the effect that you were crying and you definitely don’t want to cry on the night of prom.

There you guys go, my first and probably only prom entry. I hope you all have/had fun at prom! I hope you guys liked these look ideas, you can always use them for other events that involve pictures with flash being taken because you definitely don’t want flashback!

My Favorite Makeup Products!

Hi everyone,

Welcome to today’s post. Happy May! I hope this month goes well for all of us! This is my final month of school meaning I will have the whole summer to blog away for you guys! Today I was at a loss for ideas so I decided to just show you my favorite makeup items at the moment and a short description as to why I like them.

Face:

NYX Photogenic HD Foundation

I really like this foundation because it feels light on my face and blends so smooth. My other liquid foundation blends chunky and is very obvious I have a ton of makeup on where this is so lightweight. However, this foundation gives me low-no coverage so keep that in mind.

E.L.F. Perfect Blend Concealer

This concealer covers so much and is only $2.00! This concealer fits my tone and it smells so good, like apricots. I ran out of it recently and have to stock up, it’s the best concealer I have had.

Eyes:

E.L.F. Eyeshadow Lock Primer

This dries quickly and keeps my shadow locked in place and doesn’t crease no matter how long my shadow is on.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette

I waited so long to get this palette and I am so obsessed with how it looks. I have made countless looks with this palette and it is my favorite eyeshadow palette. I love that this palette has matching colors so if you’re in a rush you don’t have to figure out a whole new look.

Lips:

Estee Lauder Lipstick ‘Candy Shimmer’

I love that this color isn’t crazy dark and it can blend in to my natural lip color, I also like that this lipstick has some shimmer, it’s truly a pretty lip color.

Benefit Benetint Lip Stain

I like to wear this as an individual lipstick instead of using it over a lipstick to keep it on all day, some days when I don’t want to put lipstick on and have it smear on straws and cups, I will put this on to give a nice tint to my lip color and it makes them a little rosy.

Highlight and Contour:

E.L.F. Baked Highlighter ‘Moonlight Pearls’

This highlighter is such a pretty color and gives you a super natural glow. I love to put this on my cheeks, nose, cupid’s bow as well as on my brow bone using a small eyeshadow brush. I love that this highlighter is buildable depending on how much of a glow you want.

E.L.F. Baked Bronzer ‘Bora Bora’

I love that this is a mix of different bronzing colors and I love this gives a nice bronze to my forehead and cheeks. It doesn’t work super well as a contour but I use it to give me a nice natural bronze.

Birthday Haul

Hey everyone,

I have so much fun writing about beauty hauls and I also find myself having fun watching youtubers do haul videos-whether it be clothes or makeup, it’s just so fun. So I decided to write about this birthday haul. I am not trying to brag in any way, I just figured that maybe you guys will be entertained by it? Maybe? I don’t know, let’s get into it!

**I’m also listing the websites of where I got each item so you can check out those items also!***

1.) Pink Torn Shorts from Charlotte Russe

I love this store’s shorts because for me it is hard to find shorts that fit my figure and I don’t know if it’s just me but I hate when the waistbands of my pants are big to the point someone can stick something down them, I know it’s weird. So, I decided to get this pair of shorts because I don’t really own a lot of ripped shorts and I really like that style of shorts.

2.) Denim Shorts from Charlotte Russe

I really love denim shorts because of the fact that they go with any top of any style and design. I especially love refuge’s shorts because they’re soft and they fit me right.

3.) Chocolate Bon Bons Palette from Sephora

I went to the store in the mall and I saw this palette and I wanted it but also didn’t want to spend the money, but I decided why not? I slowly am escalating my makeup collection from drugstore products to higher brand products- but I am not ditching elf. I love this product because the colors are super fun and they have nude colors as well as some highlight colors and some fun vibrant colors. Not to mention the color smells like chocolate.

4.) Tarte’s Tartiest PRO Amazonian Clay Palette from Ulta

I got this palette as a birthday present from my parents. I might’ve mentioned this on the blog before, but I have been wanting this palette since I first got into makeup but I knew I would never get it because it is $53. The closer it got to my birthday the more hints I got from my mom that she was going to get it, but I played it cool. I watched videos on YouTube about this palette and a lot of beauty gurus hated this palette because ‘the colors smushed together’ but doesn’t any color do that anyways if you use too much of different colors? Well, I went to the Ulta store purposely to sample this product as well as some other face products and I used I think 3 different colors on my eye and I immediately loved it, and not because I had been wanting this palette for so long. I will go into more detail when I use this palette.

5.) Free Birthday Gift from Sephora!
Since I am a part of their email list, I got the exclusive offer to choose between a Tarte travel pack (that they give you) or another item from a brand I had never heard of before. So obviously I went for tarte because lately I have been obsessed with Tarte. In this gift I got a miniature matte lip paint which is named ‘birthday suit’ and a small blush called ‘parrty’ (I will post swatches on our Instagram @complicatedfashionblog) So, if anyone from Sephora is reading this blog, a big thank you to you for even having this offer, not a lot of stores do this and I think I actually do like Sephora a lot more.

DIY Contour Slime!

Hi everyone,

I saw this idea on Rachel Levin’s (rclbeauty101 on youtube) channel and I thought this was a very smart idea. Rachel always posts very clever and easy DIYs and you just sit and wonder “does this really work” and it sure does! I decided to post this slime for you guys because you seem to like the diy’s that I post on here. So I hope you enjoy!

Ingredients:

1 Tb of MetaMucil **Make sure it has psyllium husk***

Liquid Foundation in a dark tone (for the contour color)

1 cup of water

A whisk

and a microwave

and a bowl to mix it in

Now here’s how to put it together:

1.) You first get a tablespoon of metamucil, this will help make the slime slime.

2.) You will pour liquid foundation in any color of your choice to the bowl.

3.) Take a spoon and just mix the two together until there is brown clumps.

4.) Add a cup of water to the mix and whisk it all together.

5.) Then you will microwave this for five minutes.

6.) Stop the microwaving process when it has around 2:30 left  to add more foundation to the mix.

7.) Continue mircowaving

8.) After taking it out of the microwave, let it cool.

9.) Then take a popsicle stick and scrape the slime off the sides of the bowl and pour the slime into a container to keep it in.

The great part of this slime is that it won’t get on your fingers! The way to get the color out of it is to push on wherever you want the contour slime to go and it’ll stick on to what ever part of the skin. Note that you might need to use a beauty blender and concealer to cover some lines that the contour slime might make once you push it down.

Thank you so much for reading, make sure to like this blog and make sure to comment or contact us for future blog posts!
